Running Pegasus Mail for Windows from the Novell1/2/... Servers

A1 Running Pegasus for Windows from Novell1/2/...

To start with, you must be running Windows 3.1 or higher and be logged into to a Novell NetWare server, such as an IS NOVELL server. See Microsoft Windows documentation and online help for further information. You may register for an account on an IS NOVELL server and a central email name by means of the World Wide Web form displayed at the URL:

http://www.bham.ac.uk/is/aaa/

On IS NOVELL servers, the new version of Pegasus is stored in a directory that might not be on your default search path. You are strongly recommended to enter the full path name of the Pegasus program, which is:

Z:\PEGASUS\WINPMAIL.EXE

In Windows 95 it is best to add Pegasus to your Desktop or Start/Programs menu in the normal way. For instance, to add a Pegasus icon to the Desktop:

  1. Move the mouse pointer to an empty part of the Desktop and click the right mouse button (ie right click on the desktop). This will open a menu.
  2. Move the mouse pointer within the menu to 'New'. This will open a further menu.
  3. Move the mouse pointer across to 'Shortcut' on the new menu and click (with either mouse button). This will open a 'Create Shortcut' dialog box.
  4. Enter the full path name of Pegasus in the 'Command line:' box. (You may click the mouse pointer in it and type, or use the 'Browse' facility to find Pegasus.)
  5. Left click on the 'Next' button. This will move to the next (final) dialog box.
  6. You may type a new name for the icon if you wish - it is called 'Winpmail.exe' by default.
  7. Left click on the 'Finish' button. This will create an icon for Pegasus on your desktop.

Thereafter, to run Pegasus you double click on its icon as normal.
